Software

boxes_on_conveyor

Warehouse management systems will make your warehouse or distribution center more efficient, accurate, and connected. Using a combination of process, people, and technology, our warehouse solutions streamline all functional areas, including: receiving, put-away, picking, packing, shipping, and cycle counting.

Acting as your warehouse command center, a Warehouse Management System (or WMS platform) enables agile, real-time management. By partnering with the best in WMS, Barcoding, Inc. offers platforms that fit the needs of distribution centers of all sizes.

But warehouse management is more than one piece of technology. While the WMS platform is the backbone, Barcoding is your source for a total solution—turning your warehouse or distribution center into a competitive advantage.

We’ve worked with many different flavors of WMS, including homegrown systems.
  • SAP
  • PeopleSoft
  • EPG
  • Oracle Netsuite WMS
  • Generix
  • Manhattan
  • JDA
Key areas where our partnership can pay off:
  • WMS operational assessments and roadmap building
  • WMS software recommendation

BENEFITS OF

Warehouse Management Solutions by Functional Area:

Warehouse worker scanning box with handheld scanner

Receiving

Gain insights into shipments that have been delivered, but that are not yet at their final location. Make sure items at low stock levels are staged and put away first, reducing the impact of out-of-stocks and inefficient fulfillment processes.

Scanning manufacturing part in warehouse

Put-Away

Know the location of all inventory on your shelves. Route your workers to the right location, set up their picks in the proper order to minimize travel time, and increase the number of orders they can pick each day.

Using a tablet to check stock

Picking

Improve error-proofing and productivity in the picking process. Workers receive their picks on a mobile device that routes them to the proper location. Scanning items when you pick them verifies that the right item at the right quantity is picked.

Looking at parts in warehouse

Packing

Ensure the accuracy of each order that is picked and reduce material costs by determining the right sized shipping carton.

Boxes on conveyor

Shipping

See that each order is properly packaged and shipped to the right destination and delivered on the right date.

Cycle Counts

Manage physical inventory in real-time and reduce the number of hours required for cycle counting.

RFID In Receiving

In receiving, items, cases and/or pallets traditionally used barcodes, which workers had to scan one by one. With RFID, those items can be read all at once by a portal reader placed at the dock door as they are unloaded from the truck.

Unloading an inbound container, for instance, which may take about two and a half hours to individually scan, sort, and count cartons, may now take less than half an hour with RFID-tagged cartons.

Using a WMS (warehouse management system), items can be cross docked for immediate transport or staged and stored.

Item-Level Tagging At Point of Manufacture

Tagging products at the source of manufacture is intended to provide more accurate inbound and outbound information in distribution centers as well as more efficient receiving and shipping processes at external sites.

Managing Assets in Real Time with RFID & RTLS

Using passive or active RFID tags affixed to assets like products, containers, equipment, and people, organizations can monitor, in real-time, location and status. Specialty tags have been developed to meet the needs of certain types of asset management, and this system has been successfully implemented many times in closed-loop systems of returnable assets.

With the advent of RTLS (real-time location systems), asset management information becomes even more granular.

Traceability and RFID

RFID tags can be used to address government compliance mandates like “farm to fork”. The tags can store the necessary tracking information, from manufacture date, shelf life, expiration dates, lots, batch, serial numbers, etc.

Using readers and portals throughout the supply chain, the data can be updated wirelessly and this electronic record made available in case of a recall or counterfeit issue.
