When we think of the supply chain industry, we picture warehouse, IT, and operations workers meandering back and forth through endless aisles of boxes. And while they are essential to our business, we want to acknowledge those who work a little closer to our bottom line.
This week, we want to thank the finance team who keep the Barcoding, Inc., Barcoding-Canada, and Versatile Mobile Systems teams in check (cheque😉).

DarLA HERMAN
INVOICING AND COLLECTIONS SPECIALIST
As part of the Barcoding Finance Team, I work alongside many amazing people.
My role with the team:
I establish credit for new customers, complete vendor forms, invoice orders, and collections.
What does being a Supply Chain Geek mean to you?
Working together as a team to make sure each one of our customers has what they need each day to operate as smoothly as possible.
What do you do for fun outside of work?
I enjoy gardening, walking, and spending time with family and friends.
What’s something you’ve learned this year (in your job)? Keeping notes is very helpful for the customer portals as each one is different.
Cait Soper
Finance Associate
I handle all things accounting for Barcoding-Canada, from invoice inquiries to supplier payments, and everything in between. Outside of work, you’ll find me adventuring with my two kids and our rescue dog. This year has fine-tuned my problem-solving skills, and I’m looking forward to big things in 2024!
BETTY CLANCY
FINANCIAL SERVICES ASSOCIATE
Describe your job and role at Barcoding, Inc.
My main role is payment application girl. I am also the sleuth my coworkers come to if they need an assist with the research and resolution of account/payment issues. I provide support to others whenever and however I am able.
What does being a #SupplyChainGeek mean to you?
Before COVID and the disruptive supply chain issues, I took having access to what I needed, for granted. It’s made me view the whole supply chain process in a different way. I better understand and appreciate the value and importance of what our company does to enable our customers to manage their supply chain processes efficiently and accurately.
What do you do for fun outside of work?
Nature walks, photography, gardening, cooking, line dancing, reading a good mystery, hanging out with goats and other farm friends at a nearby sanctuary, and waiting hand & foot on my beloved rescue pets.
What's something you've learned this year (in your job)?
Sometimes things have to wait until tomorrow.
Laurie Bisset
Office Manager, VMS
Describe your job and role at Barcoding, Inc./Barcoding-Canada/VMS.
I have been at VMS for over 26 years. I am the office manager and work in finance in invoicing/collections and operations and hopefully helping our office run efficiently.
What does being a #SupplyChainGeek mean to you?
To be the best in whatever we do and be willing to help others succeed in what they do. Always go the extra mile!
What do you do for fun outside of work?
I LOVE to garden and cook for family and friends!

Valerie Bahe
Payroll Specialist
Describe your job and role at Barcoding, Inc./
Barcoding-Canada/VMS.
As a Payroll Specialist/Accountant, I aim to be a reliable bridge between employees and the finance department. I ensure employees receive accurate and timely compensation. I process payroll, making sure hours are entered accurately, and the appropriate deductions and taxes are applied. I generate and analyze commission reports and strive to provide comprehensive data to sales team members and management and to facilitate accurate payouts. My attention to detail is an important part of fostering trust and satisfaction among our sales team.
What does being a #SupplyChainGeek mean to you?
In my role as a payroll specialist, being a #SupplyChainGeek means understanding the connections between accurate employee compensation and the broader logistics of procurement, production, and distribution.
What do you do for fun outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family. We engage in various activities. My husband and I enjoy walking and hiking with our dog, golfing, swimming, and kayaking. I also enjoy Zumba! It is a great way to de-stress at the end of the day.
What's something you've learned this year (in your job)?
This year, I deepened my understanding of my role by honing my problem-solving skills. I increased my efficiencies with technology and worked to streamline processes, ultimately enhancing productivity, and contributing to the overall success of the team.
I really enjoy my job and being part of the Barcoding family!
