It seemed like it was just yesterday when SSD (Susquehanna Service Dogs) Suzie went off to a well-deserved family as a companion dog and our team of #SupplyChainGeeks beamed with pride as we reminisced about her puppy days. Well, we can’t live in the past so for 2022, we decided to sponsor another pup! Can’t deny we’re addicted to pawisitivity and puppy stages!
SSD Atlas is a yellow Labrador retriever, born on December 24, 2021, and is guilty of stealing hearts and being too cute. Alongside his dashing good looks, he is also a go-getter ready to be trained as an assistance dog. Assistance dogs are specially trained for people with psychiatric disabilities, autism, PTSD, and seizure disorders. They allow them to live richer and fuller lives, as well as provide them with some independence.
So why did our team name him Atlas? Atlas is a special name to us—it was the code name for the engineering effort that launched our new IntelliTrack® platform.
“Our partnership with SSD directly supports our mission to positively impact our communities. Our employees, partners, and customers all loved getting to know Suzie and seeing her graduate as a companion dog. Now, we are excited to support SSD Atlas on his path to becoming an assistance dog. Atlas is a special name to us—it was the code name for the engineering effort that launched our new IntelliTrack® platform. We hope the name, and the training, serve SSD Atlas well,” says Jody Costa, VP of Marketing at Barcoding, Inc.
“We’re very happy to partner with Barcoding, Inc. again,” says Deb Tack, SSD’s Director. “It takes a community to raise, train, and place assistance dogs. Dogs like Atlas grow up to change lives, helping people do things they never thought were possible.”
Be sure to subscribe to our blog and follow us on our various social media channels to get updates on Atlas’ training. We’re counting on him to change lives and dish out smiles.
SSD Atlas enjoys riding in the car and running errands with his puppy raisers. He often accompanies his raisers to softball and soccer games, where he practices his down-stay. He’s currently working on his down-stay while the family cooks in the kitchen.
