QR Codes Make the Airport Fun!

Getting information at the airport just got a whole lot easier, at least for travelers at Phoenix Sky Harbor in Arizona. Now, airport patrons will be able to access information about rental cars, where their airline is located and restaurants nearby their gate all with their mobile phone, via QR codes.

Travelers with smartphones and tablets that scan a QR code will be directed to the newly created mobile website, which can easily connect travelers to flight status, parking, shops, restaurants and ground transportation. There’s even an interactive tool, “Plan Your Visit,” that allows guests to search for amenities and services near their departure or arrival gates.

By increasing the amount of accurate information travelers have access to, Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport hopes to improve upon its customer service. To make travelers aware of the new mobile site, staff will wear shirts adorned with QR codes that say, “Scan Me” in order to demonstrate how quick and easy to use they are.

If you won’t be going to the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport any time soon, you can still visit the mobile site, skyharbor.com, from your smartphone to see airport convenience, redefined. If you have seen the new QR code campaign, share your thoughts by commenting below, or on our Facebook or twitter pages. There’s no doubt that other airports will soon follow suit.
