QR Codes in e-mails?

While QR codes are often used for print advertising campaigns, and sometimes even television, it’s rare to hear about anyone using them in e-mail marketing campaigns.

However, perhaps that’s for the best. In an e-mail message, its pretty easy to simply click a link. The QR code would still require scanning, and if subscribers are already viewing your e-mail on their mobile device, they would either need to save the image for scanning later, or have to have a second mobile device in order to scan the QR code. Even if they did view the QR code on the computer, it would still require scanning from a mobile device, which is much more time consuming than simply clicking a link.

For now, I think QR codes should stay out of e-mails, but if you disagree, speak up by commenting here, or on our Facebook or twitter pages.
