QR Code Scans Increase in Q1 2012

While we’ve often discussed the “death of QR codes,” but their demise couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, Q1 of 2012 was the QR code’s strongest quarter yet; reaching 13 million scans and up 157% from a year ago, according to Scanbuy.

Scanbuy’s 2D barcode scanning app, ScanLife, received traffic from over 5 million unique users, 93% of which are using Android devices (48%) and iPhones (45%). Stats also revealed that men, aged 25-34 were most likely to scan a mobile barcode.

So, what’s the most effective way to get a scan? By analyzing various QR code campaigns, Scanbuy discovered that campaigns that leveraged video, app downloads and product details were the most popular.
