Honeywell’s Dolphin CT50 is a Handheld Powerhouse
The latest rugged handheld from Honeywell, the Dolphin CT50, is a highly durable and modern mobile computer that is perfectly suited to the logistics and transport sector. While previous offerings from Honeywell were more akin to rugged smartphones, the CT50 can be more accurately described as a rugged handheld computer and scanner thanks to its expanded capabilities.
Its size is not that different from that of an iPhone 6 Plus at 3.3 x 6.3 inches. It tips the scales at slightly more than 12 ounces, striking a good balance between durability and lightness. The screen is 4.7 inches on the diagonal and boasts a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The capacitive multitouch has been designed with industrial use in mind.
The device uses a 2.26GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 and it boasts an impressive six sensors: proximity, light, gyro, accelerometer, pressure, and magnetometer.
Users can choose between the Windows Embedded 8.1 Handheld operating system or Android 4.4.4 with seamless upgrades available.
One of the CT50’s handiest features is its multiple input mode ability, which encompasses touch, stylus and speech. In addition, its 1D/2D scans and NFC communication capabilities enable it to scan, record voice notes, annotate images, and capture digital signatures with ease.
Built with Extreme Conditions in Mind
The model is entirely waterproof and dustproof thanks to its IP67 sealing. It can certainly withstand a variety of challenging environments, whether it’s full immersion underwater, a 5-foot drop on concrete, a heart-stopping tumble or extreme temperatures.
The bottom line is that the Dolphin CT50 takes a well-appointed and attractive handheld and cleverly arms it with a number of additional features like ruggedness and data collection capabilities in order to make it the perfect companion for any industrial needs.
