60th Anniversary of the Barcode

Yesterday, Oct. 7, marked the 60th anniversary of the first patent for the barcode. Although the barcode celebrated its 38th birthday on June 26, the patent for the barcode was not granted until Oct. 7, 1952.

While 22 years passed between the patent being granted and an actual barcode being scanned on a stick of Juicy Fruit gum, we think it was worth the wait.
